In 1953 Buick invited the world to celebrate
their 50th anniversary in grand style with their Golden Anniversary
Skylark
.featuring their all new 188
horsepower 322 cu in. V8 engine.
This very luxurious limited edition beauty (only
1690 were built) had some very special features, including power
brakes, steering, windows, seats, hood and antennae for the foot
operated selectronic radio.
Exclusive styling features ranged from its superb
two tone leather interior to wide white wall tyres calling attention
to the sublime Borrani styled 40
spoke chrome wire wheels with full fender cut outs to show them
off.
These together with Buick's beautiful grinning
grill and double bubble tail lights with the magnificent stainless
steel side sweep- spears connecting front and rear ends debued to
the American public
one of the finest 50's American convertibles ever built and is coveted
today by collectors world wide.
Our example is further enhanced by the very
rare factory mounted continental rear spare wheel. It was originally
supplied in California to a Cunard line Captain. It is finished
in mandarin red with a white hood and a red and white tuck and roll
leather interior.
